Recorded at TOTAL Artspace, Berlin on Friday 10th October 2008.
Phil Julian: Contact Microphones, Surfaces, Objects and Electronics
Michael Renkel: Amplified Stringboard, Electronics & Computers
The amplified stringboard is a wooden tablet strung with two sets of guitar strings, one with a tremolo, a set of bass strings and a set on a violin bridge equipped with pickups and contact microphones.
The sounds are produced by using a range of preparations including e-bows, mallets, stones, snappers, short-circuited effect pedals, abrasive paper and bottle necks. The signals are sent separately into a mixing desk and from there relayed into an effects processor and a computer where the sound is manipulated using a MAX/MSP patch.
